Cognitive Biblical Therapy (CBT) is a process of Biblical counseling found in the Scripture which is not only sound theologically, but psychologically. CBT uses the language common to the fields of psychology and psychiatry for consistency in labeling observable behavior patterns. It is not an integration of psychological theory and scripture, but uses five specific phases of counseling processes that assist the client in healing or solving the presenting problem causing the distress.  The therapy is in response to God when He said, "Come now and let us reason together...” Isaiah 1:18 (NIV).  Accordingly, CBT facilitates an individual's self-analysis in light of the Biblical norms of behavior found in Scripture.
